Innavik

The off-grid Inuit community of Inukjuak has developed the Innavik Hydro Project, which will be located at the Inukjuak River, on Category 1 lands, in the region of Nunavik, northern Quebec. The project will be 7.5 MW in size and will replace all diesel fuel for electricity generation and space/water heating in the community over the next 40+ years.

Community members have voted in favour of the project by an 83% majority in 2010.

The Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies have been completed, and the project is now being advanced through a partnership between the Pituvik Landholding Corporation of Inukjuak, and Innergex Renewable Energy.

Role of Lumos Energy

Lumos Energy was brought on board as Clean Energy Advisor to the Pituvik Landholding Corporation in 2007, and continues to play that role to take the Innavik small-hydro project to construction and operations. Lumos has spearheaded the project feasibility process and business negotiations with Hydro Quebec, project partner Innergex, and managed a range of project development issues.
